About our church

OUR PASTOR

Edge Memorial United Methodist Church recently welcomed our new pastor, Jeff Taylor, and his wife, Jessica Taylor. Pastor Jeff was previously the pastor at Lake Helen United Methodist Church and also served as the pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church. He served as youth pastor at Beymer United Methodist Church in Winter Haven as well as Shepherd’s Community United Methodist Church in Lakeland.

Pastor Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in religion from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He is currently pursuing his master of divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. Jessica Taylor is a graduate of Lake Minneola High School and currently teaches first grade at Seth McKeel Academy in Lakeland.

The Taylors, who were college sweethearts, will be residing at the Edge Memorial United Methodist Church parsonage in Groveland. They are expecting their first child.

HISTORY

Edge Memorial United Methodist Church was founded in November, 1909, by nine charter members when the city of Groveland was called Taylorville. One of the co-founders was E.E. Edge, for whom the church is named in memory of his support of the church and Methodist-supported missions, including Florida Southern College. Edge, and his son L.Day Edge, were lifelong members of the church and were also successful business leaders. L. D. Edge was the city's first mayor and the youngest ever Florida Speaker of the House of Representatives. MORE HISTORY
